An ordinary meeting of this Board was hel^ on Jan. 3 ; present— the Chairman and all the members. It was resolved that some attention should be given to clearing the upper end of the main drain. This was seconded by Mr '.Leathern arid carried. Mr,Forbes moved—" That notwithstanding the improvement in the clearing of the river, it is evident that the trees are a very great obstruction to the free flow of the water in the stream; aud that the Advice Committee be requested to urge on the Council the necessity of taking steps to have them removed as soon as possible." This was seconded by Mr Herrick and carried. Mr Leathern proposed that the County Council should be requested to erect a bridge of thirty or forty feet spans over the river Halswell, to connect the Main Drain Road with the Akaroa Road near the school at Tai Tapu, and to debit the Tai Tapu and Lincoln Road Boards equally with the cost. This was seconded by Mr Herrick and carried. It was decided that twopence per dozen should be paid for small birds' eggs, and heads, arid sixpence per dozen for blackbirds and eggs, for a month. After passing accounts for payment the Board rose.
