Golden Wedding Celebration at - Eangioba;. — An extremely interesting »•-.. gathering took place at the Good Templar Hall, Rangiora, last night, when the members of the Godd Intent Lodge of Templars met to celebrateythe golden weddings of ■ iMr arid Mrs R. Evans and Mr and Mrs, --T Prin°". The happy couples are old colonists? the two first-named being Canterbury pilgrims, and Mr and Mrs 'Bring settlers of nearly forty years' .. 'standing. Their connection with the «Go6d Teinplax Order dates from its infancy in North Canterbury, Bro Evans beino*one of the charter members of the Good Intent Lodge which was established twenty-two years ago* and the others members of the same Lodge for over twenty years. The proceedings were in the form ' of a social gathering, aud the evemngwas spent in an enjoyable manner. -The Chief Templar, on behalf of the Lodge, presented each of the guests with a handsome card of life membership, aid heartily congratulated them upon their, golden wedding. Several other 'members alao -expressed their conoratulations, and Bros H. Boyd and T. . Keir spoke in eulogistic terms of the good serviced done by the four members dviring their long connection with the Lodge. Bros Pring arid Evans each acknowledged. the ■" conciliations and expressed themselves as deeply sensible of the kindly feeling shown towards them and their partners by the members of the order.

■ Addington Refuge.— A visit was paidto this institution yesterday by the Hon Mrs Parker and Miss Maude, matron of the Hospital, both of whom spoke in terms of praise of the cleanliness bf the place.

, Professor " Davis. — This well-known eaterer for the amusement of the public, of psychological and ventriloquial fame, has arrived in Christohurch to make arrangements for a series of entertainments.

• Industrial Association.— The annual general meeting of the Canterbury Industrial Association will be held in the Caledonian Society's Booms, at 8 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Queen's Cadets.— The Queen's Cadets were inspected by Colonel Fox at. the drillshed yesterday evening. The Cadets mustered twenty-two, and were put through company drill, manual and firing exercise by Captain Jones and Lieutenant Lane.

The Weather. — The thunderstorm yesterday afternoon did not reach further north than the Waimakariri. During the afternoon a warm north-wester was blowing in North Canterbury, but at five o'clock the iwind, veered to the south-west, and the •weather became cold. During last night heavy . showers fell pretty generally in the northern district.
