A LOST LEGISLATOR.
The London correspondent of the Eastern Morning News (Nov. 26) says :— "1 have to report the mysterious disappearance of a member of Parliament. He started on a tour round the world some months ago, but nothing has been heard of him of late, and his friends have been, for several weeks past, in.a state of. the. greatest anxiety as to his fate. When he left England he went direct to the United States, and he has not been heard of since he' sailed for San Francisco.' No expense has been spared in making all possible inquiries by telegraph, but, the result has been altogether unsatisfactory, and no news of him has been received. His son has now left England with a detective to institute a thorough; search. The missing member was intending to go into the interior, of Japan, and in -this way he might have passed for a time out of the road of communication or of observation. Unfortunately, there is.no certain- evidence that he ever landed at* any Japanese port. For the present the name of the member must be withheld, but the facts &re as I state them."
