Giffen and Lyons became associated, and by careful and interesting play, raised the total to 60 before Howell got a fast pile past Lyons. With the advent of Reedmanthe rot, which had again set in, seemed ended, ;but at. 124 G-iffen had the misfortune play a ball: back' to M'Kibbiri£and thus ended his masterly and uubiemished innings, None of the others withstood the deadly deliveries of Howell and M'Kibbin, who were both in grand nick. Being 168 behind, South Australia followed on, but had no better luck, as a few minutes' play saw Reedman, who had made a fine rallying; stand in the first innings, and Martin sent to the rightabout. .;' '.. , . •, .
