Delayed Telegrams.
i DEPUTATION TO THE HON J. G. { WARD. I [Pkr Press Association .J j DUNEDIN, Nov. 29. The Hon J. G. Ward, replying to a deputation respecting the matter of delayed telegrams, said the cause of the departure was the increase of work in certain parts of the colony, the result of the boom in mining matters. With this, and the necessity for overtaking Press work, there had been a block in several parts of the colony. It was necessary to have one system for the whole colony. Therefore he could not promise to revert to the old system in places where a block had not occurred, but promised to review the whole system of telegraphing. He. siid that he hoped shortly to be able to inttoduce a system of cheaper telegrams altogether ; 6ucpenny telegrama with perhaps a reduced number of words. He was now making inquiries, and hoped to be able to announce the result shortly.
