A TERRIBLE DISASTER.

Mr Kaye, the lessee of Trefoil Island, with his wife, son and daughter, started for the mainland about six weeks ago, but ' when a little distance from the island the boat was swamped and all were drowned in ! the presence of the remaining children on j the island. The fact was only discovered ! by men calling at the island yesterday. The fourteen-year-old daughter had looked after her younger brothers and sisters. All the provisions were exhausted, but the boy killed a sheep, on which they were living ; when they were found.

The muscles 'on his right arm, above the elbow, were severely injured) and it will be some time before he will be able to have the use of his arm. He wae taken to town and his wounds were dressed by Mr R. Brown, surgical dresser. Sternchaßer has a very bad temper, and this ie not the first time he has attacked his attendants.
