THE BAND CONTEST DISPUTE.
A telegram from Invereargill says that the dispute as to the first prize of £100 at the band contest last year was brought to a head in the Magistrate's Court there yesterday, the Invereargill Garrison Band suing the trustees for the prize. The case was mostly one of legal Argument as to the validity of the protest. The committe. was composed largely of .representatives of bands who were at the timei " unfinancial," and also had something to* gain by the disqualification of the Invereargill Garrison Band. Mr Poynton, S.M., reserved his decision for a week, but apportioned costs as follows : — Plaintiff JJB 13_ trustees of the fund £5 Is, joint bands J6s*
