FOOTBALL.
[Phb Press Association.] HAWERA, August 14. The representative football match Wanganui v. Taranaki was played to-day. Taranaki won by twenty-nine points (seven tries, two of which were converted, and a goal from a mark) to nothing. INVEBCAEGILL, August 14. The following is the team selected to play for Southland in the interprovincial match in Danedin oa Saturday :—Fullback, J. Manson ; three-quarters, D. Bain, M'Lennan and D. Hurst ; five-eighths, J. Best and V. Hirst; half-back, Pollook ; forwards, Anderson, Jenkins (captain), M'Bobbie, Farquhareon, J. Martin, Walsh, Molloy and Bullman. A football match was played yesterday afternoon between Christ's College and .the Boys' High School, and resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. The game, irhioh wsb rather uninteresting, was slightly in favour of the College boys. The N'tu Ahuriri Maori team, winners of the Canterbury Rugby Union Junior Flag competition, leave for Wairarapa to-day to play the following matches i— Greytbwn First Fifteen, at Greytown, on August 17. ; Kotahitanga (Maori) Club, at Greytown, on August 22; Wairarapa Junior Representatives, at Masterton, on August 24. The following will represent Linweod v. Petone (Wellington), at Lancaster Park to-day ;—Orchard, Stringer, Hobbs, Price, O'Brien, O'Brien, Irvine, Kerr, Ward, " Fanning, Darton, Pearce, M'Namara and St&pleton. The Thursday Flag matches set down "for to-day are postponed on account o! the Petone-Linwood matoh.
