Macgregor) md Waimate Municipal Beserve Bill (Hon W 4 C. Walker). The Reprint of Statutes Bill was committed. Progress was reported on Clause 3, with leave to sit again. 'The Mining Companies Act Amendment Bill was further considered in committee; The Hon W. M'Cullotjqh moved a new dlause, its effect being to prevent any stockbroker from dealing directly or indirectly with any Bhares. After discussion, the amendment was tost by 21 to 9. The Bill, as amended, was reported. The Auckland Harbour Board and Devonport Borough Exchange of Land Bill (Hon W. T. Jennings) was committed, reported without amendments and passed. CO-OPERATIVE SETTLEMENTS. Sir G. S. Whithore resumed the ad-, journed debate on the Hon W. M. Bolt's resolution for the establishment of central co-operative settlements for the unemployed, to which the Hon E. Pharazyn had moved an amendment of a negative character. Tfae Hone J. Riao, W. Montgomery and J. T. Peacock having spoken, the resolution and amendment were put, both, being negatived. The Council at 5 p.m. adjourned to Tuesday.
