Market Reports.

Business in the grain market has, to some extent, been interfered with by the holidays, and quotations generally are without change. Owing to the rather encouraging tone of cables respecting the foreign markets, wheat locally occupies a still firmer position. The chief transaction recorded since oar last report haß been the sale of a line of about 2500 Backs of first and aecond-class, principally Hunter's, at 38 6£d and 3s s£d f.o.b. respectively. Pearl is extremely scarce, and would command fully 2d per buahel more. Oats are virtually unchanged, though a fair " hand-to-mouth " business has been passing locally. Beans are in request, more ! especially " ticks," and prime samples may be quoted at a penny advance. Oataheaf chaff for present and early delivery is without change, but for forward delivery 2s 6d higher is paid. Potatoes remain unchanged, and may be quoted at 20a to 22b, according to position of station Orders for grass seeds for spring sowing are now coming forward freely, and a considerable quantity has changed hands, and with, the approach of spring, things in this line may be expected to look up. Although fair business is reported in cocksfoot, the tendency is for this seed to be slightly easier, the cause no doubt being that the supplies held are more than sufficient for all the. requirements of the present 6cason. Ryegrasß continues firm at last quotations, and prime old pasture seed is in request;. In consequence of the heavy stocks of cowgrasa held, the market shows signs o£ weakening, and a fmther downward tendency may be expected. Cloverß remain firm, afcd have met a good demand]
