STEEPLECHASE CLUB.

A well attended meeting was held at Logan's Hotel. Tinwald, on Tuesday night. Mr G. A. M'Lean Buckley presided. It waß decided to form a club to be called the Ash burton County Steeplechase Club, and to hold a combined steeplechase, fiat race and trotting race meeting on Sept. 19. A programme consisting of the following events was adopted :— Lagmhor Hunt Cup, two miles, 25 soys; Hakatere Steeplechase, two miles and a half, 35 sovb; Trot, two miles, 15 soys; Open -Flat Baoe, one mile, 30 soys ; Open Flat Bace, six furloDgs, 15 soys; Hunters' Hurdles, one mile and a half, 20 soys; Ladies' Bracelet, one mile and half, 20 soys. Stewards and officers for the meeting were appointed. Weather permitting the Christchuroh hounds will meet on Saturday, at the Bush Inn, Upper Biccarton.
