GISBORNE, June 27.
At the meeting of the School Committee last night Mr Lewiaattended. He absolutely refused to give any information as to the persons who had told him of the improper behaviour of children as alleged by him in his letter to the Board of Education. He said the charges did not refer to children now attending the school, nor had they reference to anything that took place in the schoolhouse. He had nothing to say against the Gisborne school or its teaching staff, but be objected to sending his children to any public school in the country. He denied having made the charges, and said he had only written the statements of other persons to him. It was all hearsay evidence, as he had no actual knowledge of each things happening himself.
