St Mabt'b, Mkrivalb.— The Bishop of Christohuroh held a confirmation service at this churoh last night. The candidates were presented by the vicar, the Rev C. J" Merton. Hib Lordship delivered an impressive address. Suitable hymns were Bung. In spite of the wet weather a large number of parents and friends of the candidates were present. Avon Rowing Club. — A special general meeting of the Avon Rowing Club was held last evening at the boathouee. Mr M'Donald occupied the chair. Owing to the wet weather, the attendance was not large. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the question of the j building of the new shed. After diecuß- ' sion, it was resolved to leave the building till next season. ' .
