ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

An old man, Thomas Labura, aged seventy-four, a signalman on the railways, was found dead in his house. At an inquest a verdiot of death from debility and old age was returned.
Mr Thomas Peate, who for the past twelve years has been an inmate of the Christohurch Hospital, died laßt evening. He was at one time a sailor, and while on board his Bhip in Lyttelton fell from the foretopsail yard and received a number of iniuriea from whict he never thoroughly recovered. He was taken to the hospital, and thongb he was unable to walk and had his hands rendered more or less useless he succeeded in learning to paint, and he haß produced some pictures which, as the work of a aelf-taught man, are very creditable. In addition to the injuries received at the time of his accident, he developed chronic rheumatism, from the effects of whioh he died last evening. About 7.15 yesterday morning, while Mrs W A. Wright, of Cashmere, waa stepping into her trap, which was standing in front of Messrs Steele and Langdon s butcheryColombo Street, she fell off the footboard between the shafts. The horse bolted into Hereford Street, and fell. Mrs Wright escaped with only a severe shaking.
