Ballance Liberal Association.

The usual fortnightly meeting of tbis Association was held in the Waltham Library on Wednesday night, Mr M'Millan in the chair. There was a large attendance of members. Messrs Wright, Warner and Meyer were appointed delegates to act on the committee with regard to tho AntiChinese League. The report of Messrs Moody and Lawrence, delegate, on the hospital question, waa read and adopted, and a vote of thanks was passed to the delegates. Thirty new members were elected and ten candidates nominated for election. Messrs Wright, Moody, Compton, Meyer and Dyneß, jun., wore elected as additional committeemen. The following resolution waa passed :— " That this Association views with repugnance and apprehension the proposal in tho Hon W. J. Steward's Elective Executive Bill to introduce voting by ballot into the House of Representatives, because (1) the electors of New Zealand have a right to know how their representatives vote in Parliament ; (2) because seoret voting in Parliament would lend itself to treachery and corruption." Mr B. Clark, of Dunedin, delivered an address on the currency question, and was well received and accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his lecture.
