[Per Pbebb Association. I NAPIER, May 23,

Ab the exprees, train was steaming into the Napier station laat night the engine came into contact with a large stone, which had been placed on the rails near the gas works, severely shaking the engine and breaking the cross-brake shaft which connects the steam brake, and also doing other Blight damage to the machinery. It is a marvel that the en gine was not thrown off t he rails. The matter was placed in the handa of the police, and this morning Detective Kirby arrested a youth named Adam Crowe, who stands charged" with having committed the act. •
