WELLINGTON, Mat 13.

At the monthly Board meeting of the Wellington Typographical Union, the President reported that a deputation of unemployod compositors representing fortyone men had waited upon him, and requested that the Board should take some aotion in connection with taking on hands at the Government Printing-office next session. They considered that there were quite sufficient men here at the present time from all parts of the colony to meet the demand. The Board decided to wait upon Sir P. A. Buckley, Minister in charge of the Department, in connection with the matter; also, to send a lißt of the unemployed to the other Typographical Societies in the colony, with a view of their placing the matter before their members.

, GREYMOUTH, Mat 13. One of the unemployed is going round taking the signatures or . men who have been out of employment for sometime. He began yesterday, and has already received a hundred signatures, though many more are known to be out of work. The matter •will be brought under the notice of the Premier when he visits the Coast shortly.

The usual weekly meeting of the executive of tha New Zealand Workers' Union was held at the head office, Waimate, on Saturday evening, the President in the chair. Correspondence was dealt with : From' Mr J. W. Kelly, M.H.E., respecting Union matters in Southland ; from Temuka, Kaikoura, Marlborougb, Tapanui and Oamaru reporting progress. It was decided that, pursuant to the' resolution passed at the late conference, the President should viait Oamaru on May 20, when the general meeting would be held. From the 1 Pioneer Assembly Ksighta of Labour, Auckland, respecting old age pensions, and rating unimproved land values. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Hun W. P, Beeves on the last-mentioned Bubject ; also, with reference to the unemployed. On a motion proposed by Vice-President Walker, a by-law dealing with expenditure T»y branches was approved of. Mr OTJrien was instructed to inform branches as to the amount fixed for secretaries' salaries at the Christohurch and Temuka conferences. After dealing with matters of routine, the meeting ended. .

A special meeting of the New Zealand Workers' Union was held at the Union's office, Terminus Buildings, Manchester Street, when there was a good attendance. Mr W. W. Collins (President) occupied the chair. After correspondence bad been dealt with, Mrs Gaimson, aa delegate from the recent conference atTemuka, gave her report, which waa considered satisfactory. She also explained the vote of censure that "W9B passed upon her by the executive, as the matter came up before conference. After a long discussion, the vote of censure was expunged from the minutes, and Mrs <3armson was exonerated from all blame in the matter, as her action was considered necessary. Other business relative to the Union occupied the rest of the evening. The meeting adjourned, after passing a vote of thanks to the Chairman, until Satarday, May 25, when the election of officers takes place.
