The Passion Play.
A very remarkable dramatic repreaonta. tion takes place every ten years at OborAmtnergau, in Bavaria. It is an attempted realisation of the life of Jgbub Christ from Eia entry into Jerusalem to His Ascension. The performance is the result of a holy tow, and according to legend resulted in the stay of plague. It ia treated by the villagers of Bavaria in a strictly reverent manner, and from all quarters of the globe curious thousands flock to Bee this wonderful survival of the miracle play of the twelfth, cantary. Mr Walter Bentley giveß an exhibition of the playa by means of pictures taken on the spot, and in the Wellington Opera House, where he first produced it two weeks ago, attracted very large audiences. On Good Friday evening Mr Bentley will submit; it to the verdict; of a Chiistchurch audience, when the spectacle Bhould be a very interesting one. Mr J. Pxouse, of Wellington, whose fine voice has already been heard here, will assist Mr Bentley, and will sing "Nazareth," "The first Palm Sunday," "Could Te Not Watch P" « There is a Green Hill Far Away" and "The Holy City." i j
