Fabmino Extbaobdinaet. — A certaia Canterbury farmer was, according to his own showing, recently engaged in a somewhat unusual agricultural operation. He alleged, as a reason for not coming to town, that lie was cutting and binding his "fat hen." The plant in question is familiar enough and plentiful enough as a I weed, but it is a new— and it ia to be ! hoped will be, an uncommon—thing to find ! it apparently advanced to tha dignity of a crop, sufficiently plentiful to be dealt with by the reaper and binder. Bowling.— Two rinks of the Tiniaru Bowling Club yesterday played a match ■with the Ohtistchurch Bowling Club on the green of the latter. The visitors were beaten by 21 points.
