. The Timaru Herald cays : — With the continued fine weather tho carting of grain into town ft<Sl continues on a largn scale. When the first samples of this year's crops came to hand, associations, millers and merchants who do the bulk of the local buyiiig were inclined to be cautious, the wheat being the best seen in Timaru for many year.. Now that the bulk is coming to hand so freely, it .is found that it fully bsais out the simple, the grain being hard, full, of unusual size, and in every case almost first class. Not much wheat is, however, changing hands; so far as we can learn from inquiry the bulk of it is going into store. Asked for the cauee of this, we r-were told that grow'era" wilt not'Occept the' price offered, which i-* 2? 4d for best lines. We have heard of one or two sales at 2s ': 5?, for choice small lines, given, it is said, by the millers. With such Bplendid grain as has been garnered this year farmers expect to meet with northern and southern buyers, when tho market should be mure buoyant.
