Work and Wages.
The monthly committee meeting of the Waimate branch of the New Zealand Workers* Union was held on Saturday night. There was a good attendance, and Mr T. Brown presided. The Secretary's report for tbe month showed satisfactory progress, the representatives being compli-' men ted on the effective work they had done. 'A discuesion ensued respecting registration under 6 the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and this matter waß held over until all returns from shed representatives wero to. hand. The weekly meeting of the executive then took place, there being a full attendance. It was resolved that the executive would endorse any steps taken by the branch at Geraldine in its endeavours to recover wages due to Messrs O'Neal and Stonehouse. A large amount of correspondence was dealt with. An offer from a Ohristchurcli correspondent to establish a branch at Wellington was held over for further consideration. A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought the meeting to a close. -
