Horton of the New YorTc Herald, also M.E.* Horton, Mr Charles Eussell (son of- Sir Thomas Russell),. and Mr H. B. Stafford, younger son of Sir Edw-rd Steffo-d^The-latter, , two gentlemen are about to pay a visit to the Waihi Gold-mining Company's property. Yesterday being the birthday of the Emperor of Germany, the occasion was duly observed in a festive manner on board the German warship Busaard, in the Calliope dock. The vessel was decorated with bunting and was visited by a large ' ■number of Auoklanders. j The Auckland Amateur .Athletic ' Club I has selected i*.e following team to repre- j sent Auckland at the championship meet- ' ing to be held at Napier on Feb. 22 and 23 : — 100 yds. and 250 yds, James and Francis; quarter-mile, Bull andFranciß; long jump, T.- Roberts and H. Martin; high. junip, E. T. Laurie; bicycle events,- 1 Surman and Pilkington; one and threemile walks, Creamer and Brady; halfmile, Beere and Bull; one and three mile races, Davis, ' Beere, Farquhar and O'Connor; 120 yds and 440 yds hurdles, T. Boberts and W. H. Martin ;• putting the weight, and throwing the hammer, T. O'Connor and B. Ehodes. The team will leave on Feb. 12.
