Tuesday, Jan. 29. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M.), ■ Wife Desertion.— Dougal M'Coll was charged with deserting his wife, Annie M'Coll, and leaving her without adequate means of support. Mr Donnelly appeared for the complainant. After hearing the evidence of both parties, the Magistrate ordered defendant to pay 15a a week towards the support of his wife. Civil Cases.— S. Cohen v. W. Keeley, claim £14,. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default, with costs. —W. Strange and Co. v. J. Nixon, claim £5 9s lld. Mr Slater for plaintiffs, for whom judgment was > given for the amount claimed, with costs. — A. A. De Renzi v. F. E. Willis,/ claim J319 Bs. Judgment was given for plaintiff by admission, with costs £2 9a 6d.— M. Cole v. J. S. Myers, claim £5 16s on a promissory note. Mr Wilding for plaintiff, for whom judgment was given, with costs £2 14s.— J. Hiron v. R. Evans, claim £7 5b 3d. Judgment summons. Mr Johnston for judgment creditor, Mr M'Connel for judgment debtor, who did not appear owing to illness. The case was adjourned till Feb. 12 to enable bim to attend. — T. Wreaks v. G. Wolfreyß, claim £1 10s sd. Judgment summons. The debtor's ability to pay was not proved, and no order was made.— P. W.Leigh v. R. Bailey, claim £28 10a for loss and damages alleged to have been caused by defendant allowing water on his land in Cashel Street, Linwood, to flow on to plaintiff's land. Mr Swarm for plaintiff, Mr Bruges for defendant. A quantity of evidence was heard, and judgment was given for defendant, with coßta £4, 9a.
