Rifle Shooting.
The North Canterbury Rifle Club's competitions were continued on Saturday, . at the Bangiora. range. A gußty nor.'wester was blowing across the line of fire, making it difficult to keep on the target at the longer ranges. For the clnb trophy 0.70 shots at each range were fired, with . the following result:— D. M'Kay 200 yds, 21,g500yd8 20, 600 yds 18, total -59; W. Banks 21, 16. 13-50; W. Efford (6) 19, 19, 116—60} F.Becker 20, 21. 11—52; Gf. Jones (9) 16, 18, 10—53. For the New Zealand Bifle Association's bronze medal the' scoring- with seven shots at each range was:— F. Becker 200 yds 29, 500 yds .81, total 60; D. M'Kay 29, 30— 59 ; W.Banks . 31,24—55; W. Efford 23, 28-51; G.Jpnes 23, 26—49. There is one more competition for the medal, and D. M'Kay is now leading by two points. The five highest competitors of the - Kaiapoi Bifles for Captain Mellows prize in the 200, 300 and 500 yds Handicap are: — Private W. Pearce (4) 21, 18, 20—63, five points ; Lieutenant Simpson (scr) 21, 22, 11— 60, four points ; Private F. S. Robiliiard (scr) 22,17, 20—59, three points; Sergeant Pearce (scr) 21, 22, 15—58, two points; Corporal M'Gregor (5) 20, 20, 12— 57, 1 point.
