ANNIVERSARY DAY IN WELLINGTON.
[Per PfiKaa Association. I WELLINGTON, Jaw. 22. There was -splendid weather for the holiday, and the streets were almost deserte d. Despite the regatta,, large numbers went oat by trains. Besides the regatta ana races the Friendly Societies had a sports meeting on the Basin Reset ve, which was fairly attended. 1 At the Friendly Societies' sports to-day, H. E. Woon and»J. Flanaghan tied for the Grand Demonstration Handicap. In the amateur events, the Ladies' Bracelet 880 yds, was won by A. J. Patrick 45yds, E. W. Smythe 45yds, 2 ; 'F. H. Harley 25yds, 3, Time — 2minO£aec. The bicycle events resulted : • — Two Miles —L. S. Herbert 40yds, 1 ; A. Nichollß 350 yds, 2 j A. Hunt 85yds, 3. Time— omin 45sec Three Mileß (roadsters)— F. Fabian 290 yds, 1; A. Nioholls 350 yds, 2j A. Hunt 250 yds, 3. Time— 9min ISsec. Four Miles — L. S. Herbert 100 yds, 1; T. M. Lucky sor, 2; A. Nicholls 70yds, 3. Time — 15min 211S8C. . . ■ , . . •. ■
