Whilst a five-horse waggon waa going over a bridge across the Kaihiki River, near Okato, the bridge collapsed. The leaders managed to gain the opposite side of the bridge tbat rested on the earth, but the polers fell down on the stringers below. The team was eventually rescued, but the horses were much cut about. The king-bolt of the waggon also broke. A man named Julian, who was driving, luckily escaped uninjured. > DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. Thomas Jenkins, son of James Jenkins, of Green Island, fell over the rocks at the Nicholl'a Creek waterfall and was killed instantaneously. ' . Just before the Woodend School assembled od Monday morning, two small boys collided while playing, with the result tbat one of them, James Coulter, about eight years of age, broke his right leg just above the ankle. The little sufferer was conveyed to his borne, and Dr Murray was sent for from Kaiapoi. The limb was set, and the child is now progressing favourably.
