RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the above Council was held on' Friday evening; present—The Mayor (Mr T. Keir), Councillors J. Foster, W. Poster, Good, Graham, Robert?, Sansom, Jennings and Cone. A letter was read from the WaimakaririAshley Water Supply Board, enquiring whether the Council would require water, and if so, the amount it would be prepared to pay for it. The Board, if the Brown's Bock Bcheme were carried out would be in a position to supply water for flushing channels and for fire purposes.— It was decided to ask for further information as to the quantity of water the Board could snpply, and the cost; also as to whether the Board would provide the outlet for the water. The Works Committee recommended that the footpaths in High Street, from the railway to the East Belt, and in Victoria Street, from Mr Helmore's to Brook Street, be kerbed, channelled and asphalted. The report; was adopted. It was resolved to continue the barbing and channelling in Yictoria Street from Brook Street to Northbrook. The dog registration fee was fixed at 10s. Theroceipts for the month were reported to be j662 1b 8d; and thft bank credit balance J8179 5s lOd. Accounts amounting ta 19s 9d were passed for payment. The finance committee was instructed to examine tho valuation roll when completed and report to the Council. Councillor Sansom waa eleotod to the Finance and Fire Brigade Committees. Tho Mayor was requested to call a meeting of business people to decide upon the day for weekly half-holiday. The Worka Committee was instructed to make inquiries with the view to the purchase of a Bection in the Borough for recreation purposes, A challenge from the Veterans' Club to play the annual cricket match was accepted for Jan. 31. The meeting then terminated.
