This afternoon a special general meeting of shareholders in the Bank of New Zealand wbb held for the purpose of amending the bank's deed of settlement, bo as to bring it into conformity with the provisions of the recently passed Bank of New Zealand Share Guarantee Aot. Twenty-one shareholders attended, representing 2403 shares, and 425 shareholders, holding 30,445 shares, were represented by proxy. Mr William Watson, president of the bank, occupied the obair, and explained that the bußinesa was of a formal character. The alterations required had been drawn up by the bank's solicitor, and had been circulated amongst shareholders. The principal effect of the alterations was to bring the head office of the bank from London to Wellington. Be moved that the proposed alterations be passed as printed. The Hon W. Johnston seconded the motion, which was carried without any discussion. Mr J. M. Butt, . inspector, said ' that another meeting would be called for Nov. 2, for the purpose of confirming the alterations. Tflis concluded the business of the meeting. Mr E. J. Wood has been elected, after a keen contest, to represent the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Railway Servants at the Palmeraton conference on Oct. 29.
