I _, „ [Pbb Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. The Academy of Fine Arts will be opened to-morrow by Sir J. Prandergaat, in the absence of the Governor. In the competitions, the first prize for a study from the antique in monochrome waa taken by G. B. Butler, of Wellington. The still life etudy in shells, by Miaa C. B. Youmane, is first in its class. In decorative panels, Nina Jones, of Nelson, and William Storey, of Dunedin (clever conventional decoration of the illuminative type), were both given prizes. In other competitions, architecture and " oils from life," no prize was given, as the entries were not sufficient. Lord Glasgow left for Auckland by the Takapuna this evening, to meet Lady Glasgow. The colonial mails, which leffc Auckland on August 11, arrived in London on Wednesday night last), the contract date.
