Douglas, examiner of masters and mates, at Lyttelfcon, passed Mr A. Young as second mato. Mr Young, who served his time with the Shaw SaTjll and Albion Company, was a pupil of Captain fcobert Hatohnell, of Lyttelton, nndec whose supervision he prepared himself for the examination. Messrs Cook Bros.' schooners Lily and Alert, yesterday completed a trip to and from Greymouth, under rafcher exceptional circumstanoeß.
