There were ten candidates for the three vacant seatß em the Linwood Borough Council, bufc the poll, which took plaoe at the Council .Office, did not create much excitement;. Out of 1071 burgesses on the roll, 303 voted. MeE R..Smith acted as returning-officer, and the poll resulted in the return of Mesßrs H. Pearce, J; 0. Atkinson and John Taylor. The lastnamed was one of' the retiring members. The number of votes polled was as follows:— Mr H. Pearce 129;. Mr J.. C. Atkitison 100, Mr John Taylor 94.J Mr A. Ayorß 87; Mr W. C. Bean 72, Mr-H. S.. Kennedy 69;. Mr J. __». Wilson- 58j.Mr C. Edkina 53, Mr T. Marriott 42; Mr F. W. Staples 33 and'informal 7.
