Avon Rowing Club.
The twelfth annual general meeting of the Avon Rowing Club was held at the Clarendon Hotel last evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr H. J. Bowlker (captain) occupied the chair. In presenting the twelfth annnal report and balance-sheet, the committeo congratulated members on having had one of the most successful seasons in the history of the club. The receipts had amounted to £98 18s sd, and the. expenditure to £69 16s Id, leaving a credit balance of £29 2s 4d with which to Btart the new season. The balance of assets over liabilities, after allowing for depreciation, was £172 IG_ lOd. The committee recommended that a sum should be set aside annually to pay off existing mortgages on the club's property. The club's fleet, consisting of eleven boat?, waa in good, serviceable condition. Tha membership roll showed forty.four active and two life, members. Ths club was represented at the Akaroa, Lyttelton and Christohurch regattas with considerable success. * Messrs J. M'Kendry and F. Wheeler were again the club's representatives in the Maiden races, and succeeded in winning the Pairs and Soulls at Akaroa, aiao Soulls at Lyttelton and Christchurch. Mr F. Fester, in the Senior Single Sculls, and Mr D. Simpson in the Juniors, areo competed at Lyttelton, the former being placed second after a close race. Messrs H. J. Bowlker (stroke), J. M'Kendry (3), W. Bastion (2), and F. Wheeler (bow), rowed in the Maiden Four-oared at Christchurch. Considerablo interest was taken in the club races. The four-oar was won by Messrs F. Wheeler (stroke), P. Trigga (3), A. Hobbs (2), and A. H. Noall (baw), and tho Pair-oar by Messr.? H. J. Bowlker and W. Beattie. Thanka were expressed to the S3 who had assisted in cpajchiag crews, and reference was made to the art union proposed to be held for the purpose of raising funds for the erection of a new boathous.'. On the motion of Mr W. Bastion, seconded by Mr A. H. NcalJ, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. • Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows :— President, Mr J. Freeman (reelected), vice-presidents, Dr Moorhouse and Mesars A. Loughrey, F. Fuller and A. J. White, captain', Mr H. J. Bowlker (re.elec!ed)'j honorary secretary, Mr J. Maxwell (re-elected) honorary secretary, Mr J. Acton j honorary treasurer, Mr A. H. 2'foallj general committee, Messrs J. M'Kendry, E. H. Kerridge, W. Bastion, J. M'Donald, J. Hannan, W. Beattie and F. Foster; auditors, Messrs P. C. Triggs and F. J. Rowley ; delegates, Mesßrs H. J. Bowlker and A. H. Noall (reelected). The club's delegates were instructed to vote in favour of holding the New Zea- 1 land Amateur Rowing Association's j championship regatta at Picton in pre- j ference to Wanganui. # j The following new members were elected : —Messrs W. Smith, J. Baxter, H. Weston, T. Moses, G. Robin.on, G. Scott, f. Chi3nell, S. Gregg, J. Ford aod T. Dixon. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers, and a eimilar compliment to the Chairman closed the meeting.
