[PKB FbBSS ASSOCIATION, j WELLINGTON, Sbpt. 12. Miss Jervois, daughter of Sir W. Jervoia, arrived by the Aorarsgi on a nine months visit to the colony. The Aorangi brought two thousand Martini-Henry rifles for the Government. During the passage of the Aorangi from the Cape to Hobart, a ealoon passenger, William George Kedge, died from phtfai3is. The deceased, who was a native of Putney, was coming to New Zealand for his health. The agreement as to an amalgamation between the Bank of New Zealand and the Colonial Bank was signed yesterday by Mr Murray on behalf of the Bank of New Zealand, and the Hon G. M'Lean, chairman of directors of the Colonial Bank, and at once forwarded to the Government. Itis now under the consideration of the Cabinet. i Should the terras be approved the agreement will require to be submitted for confirmation to general meetings of shareholders in the two banks, which take place at Wellington and Dunedin respectively on Sept. 26.
