A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
An ordinary meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held this afternoon ; present — Mr A.' E. G. Rhodes (president) in the chair, and Messrs W. Henderson, J. Grigg, H. P. MurrayAynßley, W. Recce, Gr. Jameson, C. Lewis, H. Overton, R. H. Rhodes, D. M'Millan, G. Rhodes, C. J. Wilson, G. Gould, J. J. Kinsey, E. G. Staveley, J. Garforth, and the Hon J. T. Peacock. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs J. Ferguson, J. Deans, E. Gray. Mr A. C. Lang, of Oamaru, wrote, asking for a definition of the term " trimming for show purposes," as applied to sheep. It was decided that any trimming takicg place after the date of the issue of the premium catalogue, should disqualify the sheep. The Dunedin agent of the Buckeye Harvester Company forwarded copy of a letter which had appeared in the Otago Daily Times, with reference to the duty charged on binding twine. The resolution of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, r.ecommending that the dnty should be abolished, was also forwarded. It was resolved to recommend that the duty should be taken off importad binder twine. Accounts to the amount of J663 Ss 5d were passed for payment. Mr Overtou gave notice to move :— "That as it waß stated that a number of societies in the colony intended to publish the names of the judges for their shows, the resolution passed by this society not to publish their list should be rescinded."
