THE OPERA COMPANY.

+ The Bohemian Qirl was performed before a very large and delighted audience at the Theatre Eoyal la&t night. Mise Annis Montague, as Arline, sang the mnsio of the part with admirable expression and artistic taste. Her rendering of "I Dreamt that I Dwelt" gained an enthusiastic encore, and she sang aa introduced eong, Parker's "Listening," with charming sweetness and pathos* Miss Staunton made a splendid Gipsy Queen, forcbly expressing tha pride, passion and revengefulness of the character, and singiDg and acting magnificently. Her fine and expressive rendering Of the introduced song, Toeti's "Goodbye," deserved the encore which it received. Mr Walshe, as Thaddeus wae somewhat lacking in animation, but ne sang the music of the part well. Mr Farley's performance as Count Arnheim was an excellent one, the more mentoiioue because he was evidently indisposed. Mr Fred England sang and acted well as Devilshoof, and fairly icve^lei in tiepatt* earning the heartiest of plaudits, and provoking much laughter. Mr Herbert Eowley was an amusing Florcnetein. This evening Bizet's opera Carmen will be played, to-morrow Qirofii-Qirofla and on Friday Lucresia Borgia will be produced by spesial request. Bacheloes* Ball. — The annual bachelors' ball was held en Friday evenin-? at tho Carleton Hall. The hall wae tastefully decorated. About fifty couplesresponded to tho committee's invitationMr Stirling waa M.C., and the mnsio wa» supplied by Miss Paget (piano) and Me James Brown (violin). The catering wa* cutm .ted to Mr F. A. Waterman.
