■o The A Company was inspeotod by Lieutenant - Colonel Gordon on Monday ie*/iening. The corps mustered fortysevehVTarid was exercised in company drill ' by Captain Hobday, and in manual and firing exercise by the noncommissioned officers. The Colonel expressed his satisfaction at the clean and neat appearance of the men, and of the manner in which the drill was gone through, and commented on the great improvement which had taken place in the corps during the last few months. The Shooting Committee held a meeting after the parade, and arranged a programme for the season's shooting; The company elected Captain Hobday, Corporal Trebilcock and Private Jackson as delegates to the Associated Range Committee. A Government parade of the Canterbury Engineers was held last evening, when there were forty-nine members on parade, under Lieutenants M'Gee and Anderson. The various squads of the company were exercised in their respective duties. A meeting was held after parade, and the following were elected a committee, to act with one from the E Battery, to arrange for a military display during November:— Lieutenants M'Gee and Anderson, Sergeant Paul and Corporal Bridgman. A committee was also eleoted to assist the band in promoting an art union. It was decided to give the bridging detaohment an afternoon's- practical work on Saturday, Sept. 22, when it will connect the island near Cashel Street bridge with the bank by a two-legged trestle bridge.
