SELWYN COUNTY COUNCIL.
An ordinary meeting of the Selwyn County Conncil was held this morning; ! present— Mr D. M'Millan (chairman) and Messrs W. Dunlop, J. Murray, A. Wiffen and H. W.. Feryman. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs Gough, Kecnie and Westenra.— The Chairman stated that Binoe the last meeting correspondence had been received from the Dunsandel Cemetery Board, pointing out that there wbb a vacancy on the Board ; a report by Mr East on the Elleamere drainage works, and tenders for fencing the canal; from the Akaroa County Council, in reference to the maintenance of the bridge over the Hale well; tenders for leasing part of reserve at Kimberley ; from the Commissioner of Lands, advising that certain plantation reserves had been vested in the Council. Letters on water-race business, and the report of the Inspector of Slaughter-houses would alao be read.— lt was decided to again write to the Colonial Secretary, recommending, that Mr Sherard should be appointed a member of the Dunsandel Cemetery Board. —In connection with, the letter from the Akaroa ! County Council stating that it could not | see its way to pay half cost of bridge over Hals well under present arrangements, it was decided to defer the matter pending a report from a sub-committee.— The tender of T. Blanchard for fencing; canal at | Halswell at Is o£d per chain was | accepted, as was also that of W. Wilsted . for leasing reserve at Kimberley.— | A vote of thanks waa passed to Mr M. ; Murphy for the assistance he had given j the Board in planting at New Brighton on I Arbor Day, as aho to the East Christ- ' church school teachers and children.— [ After passing accounts and dealing with ! reports on water-races and slaughterhouses, the Board adjourned.
