The Selection Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union has decided to play the fifteen which upheld Auckland football fame againßt New South Wales on Saturday* in the match to be played against Wellington at Epsom next Saturday. The Young Men's Christian Association tendered a "Booial" to the vißiting team of footballers this evening, 600 being present, representing the various athletic bodies of Auckland. Addresses were given by the Mayor, the Eev Mac Murray' and Mr JVL. "Wilson, President of the Young Men'a Christian Association. Mr Sef ton, manager of the New South Wales team, responded. A concert followed, and an enjoyable evening was spent. WELLINGTON, August 27. The Hokitika Football Club recently submitted to the New Zealand Union, through the West Coast Union, the question as to whether an absolutely straight or right-angled pass was to be considered a pass forward, as ruled by a referee on the Coast. The Appeal Committee has decided that a Btraight pass is not a psss forward.
