North Canterbury Hunt Steeplechase Club.
A meeting of Stewards of the North Canterbury Hunt Steeplechase Ciub was held at the Crown Hotel, Amborley, on Monday, Augußt 27. The following payments for stakes were made:— Mr G. Buckley £55 2e, Mr C. Wynn-Williams £47 105, Mr A. Henderson £28 10a, Mr J. M'Farlane £4 15a, Mr E. H. Lane £4 15s, Mr G. B. Starkey £4 15s, Mr G. D. Crowe £2 17s, Mr C. A. Wells £2 17a j total £151 Is. The secretary, Mr Potts, skated the meeting had been most successful financially— the revenue from totalisator, gates., nominations and acceptances all showing an improvement upon last year's figures, which would result in the club having a substantial sam in hand after all liabilities had been met. The secretary and treasurer were authorised to pay all outstanding accounts. A general meeting will be held: about the end of the month, when the accounts will have been paid and the balance-sheet submitted. It was decided to re- sow the steeplechase course and protect the jumps with barb wire.
