The money will be handed to the City Council to be handed to the Charitable Aid Board for Government subsidy of 24s for each &, and it is expected that some men will be set to work; under the surveyor to-morrow." Mr Lomas, local agent for the Labour Bureau, has received instructions to select twenty men for railway work at Whangarei and ten men for railway work at Eketahuna.in the North Island. Applications from married men willing to go will be received ab the Christchurch office of the Bureau from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow, and the selection will take place at 3 p.m.
