Tuesdat, August 28. (Before Meßßra E. Westenra and J. E. Brunt, J.P'a.) Alleged Vagrancy. — Charles Brown, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, and who had been remanded from the previous day, was brought up charged with having ineufficient lawful means of support. After some further evidence had been heard, accused was convicted and discharged on the understanding that he left the town > in a week. (Before Messrs N. E. Bowden, M. Bowron ' and J. E. Brunt, J.Fs.) Drunkenness. — Alfred Watson, who had been remanded for a week for medical treatment, was now charged with helpless drunkenness. He pleaded guilty, and was fined ss, with costs JBI 12?. — Mary Kennedy alias Wallace was fined 5s and CO3ts. Alleged Vagrancy.— Louisa Lewis, who had recently come from Danedin, was charged with having insufficient lawful means of Bupport. She pleaded not guilty, and was remanded for a week. Alleged Breaking and Entering. — Henry Reynolds and James Edmonds were charged with having, on or about Augoßt 26, broken into the shop of Sydney Smith on the South Belt, and stolen therefrom twenty-five pairs of. boots, value JBI6 10s. Mr Donnelly appeared for Edmonds. The two accused were remanded for a week. Alleged False Pretences. —To G-. Horton was charged with having obtained from George Hyde, by fake pretences, a pair of trousers and a veat, value £1 158. He pleaded not guilty. After the evidence had been heard, the case was dismissed. (Before Mr E. Beetham, S.M.) Civil Cases.— Judgment by default, with costs, was given for plaintiffs in the following caßeß '."Press Company, Limited, v. E. Low, claim £5 17b; Christchurch Meat Company, Limited, v. J. Tennans, £10 Os sd; Same v. A. Wiltown, JB9 6s 6d (Mr Wilding for plaintiffs) ; Aifcken and Eobsrts v. Mrs J. Bennetts, £2; W. Bates, jun.,v. W. E. Burley, £26 (MrKippenberger for plaintiff) j A. Begg v. A. Medcalf, £3 15s (Mr H. Weßton for plaintiff) ; Aehby, Bergh and Co. v. W. G. Bogers, £13 13s 5d. — M. Commons v. E. Evans, £i 6a Bd, judgment summons. Mr Beswick for judgment creditor, Mr M'Connel for judgment debtor. An order was made, but suspended for one month, to enable the debtor to pay the debt by instalments at the rate of 5b per week.* —A. A. Gledhill y. H. M'Lachlan, claim £1 10 a 9d. Mr Flesher for defendant.. Plaintiff was nonsuited with costs, JBl.— T. Bojd v. A. W. Josb, claim £9 lls fld, for repairs, <tc, to a bicycle. Mr Stringer for plaintiff; Mr Beattie for defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £8 Is 6d, with costs.— The case of A. Bullock v. F. H. Whitemln, claim JEB 63, judgment summons, waa adjourned till Sept. 4.
