W K. JLfJUXX MULO.UA • There was a large attendance of householders. Mr J.- Whitelaw was voted to the chair. The annual report stated that matters were in a satisfactory condition. The number of children on the roll on March 31 was 1227, as against 1257 last year. ' The annual examination was very satisfactory, as, notwithstanding some absentees on account of the measles, failures only reached 9-5 per cent. All the pupil teachers passed their annual examinations, and three fourth-year pupil teachers matriculated. The school gained two Somea scholarships, two Education Boaid, five Boys' High School and one Girls' High School, or ten out of a possible, thirty-two. The balancesheet showed the receipts to have been £2861 16a 2d and the expenditure £2861 lls Id, leaving a credit balance of 53 Id. Mr F. C. Hall moved the adoption of the report, and at some length reviewed the work of tbe year, in speaking upon the questions of school holidays, mixed classes, and tbe inequality of salaries. Mr E. Jones seconded the motion, and referred to similar matters, and, like Mr Hall, spoke for a reduction in the number of holidays the children yearly enjoyed. Mr C. Allison moved, as an amendment— " That the report be adopted, excepting a clause referring to the inequality between the salaries of male and female teachers." Mr Archibold seconded the amendment, which was lost, and the report was adopted as presented by the committee. The election of the committee for the ensuing year resulted in the return of the nine of the following candidates who polled the highest number of votes:— J. Hadfield 69, J. Forrester 68, W. Jacques 66, E. Jones 63, W. Brew 62, W.. Miller 56, F. C. Hall 55, P. Simpson 52, W. H. Meikleham 47, S. Wilson 46, A. S. Griffith 44, B. R. Muffett 39, A. Hertzell 38 and D. M'Lennan 22. A vote of thanks to tha chairman closed the meeting. The committee subsequently met and appointed Mr Jacques chairman.
