It is understood that Mr Suttor will represent New South Wales at the Canadian Conference. NEW SOUTH WAXES POLITICS. April 22. Sir G. E. Dibbs has decided to contest the Tamworth.seat at the general election. Sir H. Parkes will probably oppose him. SENTENCED. L?e3 and Grimes, charged with causing the death of a Chinaman, who jumped from a train through fear of thorn, have been convicted. Leea has been sentenced to fourteen years' and Grimes to ten years 1 imprisonment, EIGHT-HOUR DEMONSTRATION. MELBOURNE, April 21. The eight-hour demonstration was interfered with through wet weather. The Governor was present at the banquet in the evening. Sir B. O'Loghlen, in replying to the. toast of the Government, said that the Government would not allow any village {settlement to be a failure, and he hoped that tbe bank 3 would encourage people to enter upon reproductive worka, lending noncy at cheaper rates than at present.
