Rangiora.
The annual meeting of parishioners ia connection with St John the Baptißt'a i;hiuch, Eangiora, was held on Monday evening. There was an attendance of >vbout sixty. The Bey F. P. Fendall, incumbent, presided* The Chairman, in hie annual report, said that steady, though quiet work had been done by a great many willing workers. He specially referred to the Sunday school teach era, choir, district visitors and ladiea. of the sewing bee. He also acknowledged the valuable service rendered to the church by the Ebt J.T.Teakle, whohadcsnducted Lenten services; and expressed hia gratitude to his coadjutor, the Eev E. N.. Bl&kiston, whose labour in the parish Bad been consistently earneat and unwearied. The Sunday -services had been well attended; also the week day service held at 8.30 a.m. for the beneflc of the school children. Mrß Dudley's death was referred to in terms of regret. Acknowledgment was made of a present of two braes vases from Mr G. P. Chapman for use in the church;.and it was stated that the late Mrs Ellice had left a section of land and cottage as a legacy to the church. The incumbent concluded by referring to the tather unsatisfactory nature 'OE the balance-sheet to be presented. Mr H. Jones, churchward n, read the balance-sheet, which showed:—Ordiuary expenses account: Eeceipts—Offertot ien £227 10s 7d, subscriptions £55 Is 51, parish fere and concert £42 3« 6d, other Bources £22 2s, total £346 17s 6d. Expenditure—Debit balance £12 5s lid, stipend £172105, interest £15, payment to church debt sinking fond £14 12s 9d, ordinary accounts £97 9s lid, total £376 6s sd, leaving a bank overdraft of £29 8a 4d, The cemetery account showed a credit balance of £17, and the school account a debit balance of £61 8a 7d, a" reduction of the debt by £3 for the year. Mr Jones stated that in addition to the ordinary account overdraft, £57 10a, was due to tne incumbent, but against this there were J6lB subscriptions to come in. The report was adopted. On the motion of Mr W. £hi9B, it was resolved to set apart a Sunday for a special appeal for funds towards reducing the deb% Officers were elected as follows: — Parishioner o* churchwarden, Mr A. P. Tutton; minister's warden, Mr H. Jones; vestrymen, Messrs A. B. Blacbett, G. H. N. Helmore, W. Buss, C. A. Cunningham, J. T. 1 M'Harg, W. Meech, Mehitens, G. P. Chapman, A. Templer and B. d'Auvergne; 1 auditor, Mr W. Blackett. A number of ' votes of thanks were passed to the church 1 workers and'others who had rendered eer- ' vice during the year. A most cordial ex--1 preßsion of thanks was also accorded to the 1 incumbent and the Eev *'. N. Blakistoa 1 for their work in the parish during the 1 year.
