The Medical Conference.
[Pxb Paias Association.] WELLINGTON, Apbil 2, The fast publishes to-night a report ol the proceedings of" the Medical Conference at Napier, but does not state by whom il waa supplied. TheJDunedin branch wad not diregtly represented, but Drs Chappie, of Wellington, and Moore, of Napier, were deputed to represent it. Di Chappie, moved— "That this Association regrets the action of the Wellington branch in distributing to the public press of the colony circulars on the Medioal School oi Dunediny" Dr Ohapplo moved— "That thii AMOoiation entirely disagrees with th 6 Btatemfent in the Wellington circular, and there #is no evidence that the clinical material in Danedin is inadequate foi teaohis^ purposes." The motion was lost, ai were the three following motions :— " Thai thlg Association regrets the action of th.6 Wellington branch in distributing a rej port commenting on the Medical Sohool at Duuedin; that this Aeaociation entirely disagrees with the statement in th< Wellington circular; that this Associa tion regrets that the Wellington branob distributed its report before submitting it to the Association." Dr Mackenzie (Wellington) moved— "That the re i port of the Wellington branch b( adopted as the report of the Association.* This was lost, the Auckland and Wellingion delegates alone voting for it. Di Cleghora, Nelson, moved — "That the Wellington branoh was within its righto in distributing the circular, but the Association does not endorse its actioij in publishing it." This was lost, but finally a motion by Dr Cahill— "That no one centre in New Zealand can supply sufficient material fur clinical instruction"— was carried. Wellington Nelson, Auckland and Napier voted foi and Ghristehurch and Dunedin against it The question of the relations of friendly societies to the profession waa considered, and a code of regulations binding on medioal men of the colony was unanimously carried. The new rules adopted in thiß code are that no member of a friendly society whose income is over £200 a year oaa be placed on the medical list, and there can be no contract; for mileage over three miles ; that is, medical officers of friendly eooietieß cannot in future be compelled to travel over three miles to visit a patient under their lodge agreements. It was also decided that children under sixteen years of age shall be considered members of family.

Hcpworth, who has been mistress at the school for more than threo years, and who is nowleaving, with a handsome album and a pair of Bohemian glut vases.
