<9 HAWKE'S BAY v, | CANTERBURY. THIS DAY. The interprovincial match Hawke's Bay v. Canterbury was commenced at Lancaster - Park this afternoon. The weather waß j very cold, and rain fell at inter- | vals. Cuff, tho Canterbury captain, lost the toss, and at a quarter past two Lusk and Hill went to the'- wicket*, and Robertson opened the bowling at the railway end. Hill played a maiden over, but was clean bowled by Robertson in his next over. o—l—o. Gore was next man in, but in Robertson's third over was smartly stumped by Clayton off Robertson— 4— 2— 2— and Taiaroa in. The newcomer was soon busy, and hit Robertson over the rails for 6. Uru, who nta bowling at the pavilion end, clean bowled , Taiaroa in his fourth over. 11 — 3—6. 'Williams followed, and a few minutes later Lußk was splendidly caught by A. E. Ridley at equate -leg off Robertson. 13—4—5. Gossage was the incomer. Williams hit Robertson nicely to squareleg for 4 and sent 20 up. The same player cut Robertson nicely for 3 and in the next over scored two singles off Uru. Two more to Williams off Robertson sent 30' up.
