An impression having got abroad that ] prohibition had been carried in the district, there was considerable excitement in the centres nntil the official announcement that the vets had only carried a reduction was made known. It is stated that the Committee will, without doubt, reduce the licenses by the full 25. per cent, and another result of their return will be that no licenses will be granted for booths at show or sports grounds.
