ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
— i . _• (SPECIAL to Pbsss Association/] MADBJD, Mabch 22. A tremendous explosion occurred at Santander, while a party was removing dynamite from the halk wrecked in November last. Twelve persons were killed and thirty injured. Mabch 23. The populace of Santander was incensed ftt the belief that the dynamite explosion was due to neglect, and marched and attacked the Civil Governor and Inspector of Shipping. The military had to be called out to quell the disturbance.
SYDNEY, Mabch 28. Two harbour steamers collided in the harbour to-day. One, with 200 passengers on board, was ont to the water's edge, and was only saved from sinking by her bulkheads nntil the passengers had landed,
At noon on Wednesday Dr J. H. Deamer met with an accident in Armagh Street.. He was driving in his dog-cart along Manohester Street, and upon turning into Armagh Street, on his way home the axle of the vehicle broke. The driver hung on to the reins, but Dr Deamer's coat was caught on the tail-board, and he was dragged about one hundred and fifty yards along the* street before he managed to extricate himself from the garment. Dr Deamer was very badly braised on the legs and arm., bnt the driver escaped unhurt.
