Oddfellowship.
The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Benevolent Lodge was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Montreal Street, yesterday; Broß.Billens,N.GK, presiding. A large number of members and visiting brethren were present. The eick visitors repotted four brothers on the sick list and unable to follow their usual employment, and the amount due for sick pay was passed for payment. Bro F. Duncan tendered his resignation as a trustee of the Lodge, owing to his departure to England at an early date. Ii wab resolved—" That the , resignation be accepted with regret, and i that a letter be sent to Bro Duncan thanking him for his many services to the Lodge." Bio E. Bradley was elected to the position of trustee. The delegates to the annual meeting of the District gave a lengthy report of the business transacted. It was resolved to establish _ a benevolent fund by making a levy of sixpence per quarter for the purpose of paying members' contributions when in distressed circumstances. A past officer's certificate of merit was presented to Bro J. W. Bedford, P. 0., who acknowledged the compliment in suitable terms. Six candidates were proposed for membership. Bro A. Palmer was complimented on his election to the position of Prov. G.M. of the District; and in returning thanks he pointed out the advantages, both socially and morally, to be derived from taking the interest in the society necessary to gain such a position. Bro3 Thomas Kent P.P.G.M, G. E. Sandford P.G. and H. Spicer G.M. returned thanks on behalf of their respective Lodgeß for the third sentiment. The receipts for the evening were £59. _
