MATABELELAND. It has been decided thftt the British Government will administer affairs in Matabeleland and Mashonaland by means of a judge and council, four of the members of the latter body to be nominated by thp British South Africa Company, subject to the assent of Lord Ripon. The rights of the natives are to be relegated to a Land Commission, the members of which are to be nominated equally by the British Government and the South Africa Company.
